She's called Lulu, and tends to completely forget me when someone new comes to visit.

[ chuckling, she steps out of Lulu's circling and moves to sit down after one more quick rub along her back. ]

[ he joins her on the couch, crossing one leg over the other before saying what seems to be a non sequitur ]

What's your favorite color?

[Now that she thinks about it, she realizes that all the simple things that most couples know about the other haven't even been touched on between them. Too much end of the world business. Normal is what she's been wanting so there's a good start. ]

There isn't a lot I don't like, but I'd say red is my favorite. It's just such a bright and warm color...

What about you?

[ That's exactly what he had been intending; he seems to relax a fraction ]

Green. There's no reason, really; it seems to just be one of those things. Somehow your answer makes sense, though.

Your birthday?

[She's glad to see him relax a little and finds herself following suit. ]

Well... it's actually on April 1st. I kinda just recently realized it was coming up when Fuuka mentioned it. She wanted to know what kind of cake to make for me.

When's yours?

September 15th. Although I'm in the habit of forgetting mine as well, to be honest.

That really doesn't surprise me, you know.

[smiling, she leans a little closer]

What about your favorite food?

It's udon. I'm a bit of a fan of traditional foods. [ he props his head on his hand, elbow on the back of the couch, as he answers ] And you?

[ She makes sure to file that away for future reference. ]

Believe it or not, it's the signature ramen bowl from Hagakure back home. Other than that, it's the normal sweets and such, but that ramen is amazing.

[Pursing her lips, she tilts her head as she thinks]

Hmm... favorite season?

Signature foods often have something to them that makes them strangely irresistible. As for seasons... I'm not particularly bothered by the cold, so winter is rather charming. In spring or summer, there's a lot more to do outdoors, and it's certainly easier to get around-- walking loses some of its appeal when you have to account for slush and ice. There's something about summer and autumn festivals that makes you feel connected to tradition... [ yes, he is apparently giving this very serious thought ] Autumn and winter are the best for stargazing, for meteor showers in particular. But it's more refreshing to see plants bloom in spring than hibernate in autumn, isn't it?

So I suppose my answer would be that there's a season for everything.

That's.... well thought out. I guess I've never really stopped to think of benefits for all the seasons.

Well, some people have a season that they prefer for a simple reason, or no reason at all-- perhaps some sort of gut feeling, or happy memories associated with it. But it's not something I had an answer to off the top of my head, so I thought about pros and cons... and seem to have ended up in a stalemate with myself.

[ he chuckles faintly, eyeing her expression ] I suppose you didn't ask for a dissertation, though.
